Rental Procedure and Requirements
The following documents are required to hire a vehicle from Lazarus Car Hire:
- Credit Card
- RSA ID document or Passport
- Drivers Licence
Rental procedure:
- Book your desired vehicle with Lazarus Car Hire via: e-mail, telephone or our online reservation request form
- Receive communication from our rental agents to confirm your booking
- Complete the detailed booking form and e-mail/fax back to Lazarus Car Hire
- A few days before the rental start date, your rental agent will do the security authorization on your credit card which places a hold on your card for the value of the insurance excess amount. The amount may vary depending on the specific vehicle being rented. The hold will only be active while the vehicle is with you and will be cancelled when the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was rented out in and when the rental costs have been paid in full.
- The hold amount is indicated as 'Normal Remaining Excess' on the Rates comparison page.
- The rental vehicle is delivered with a full fuel tank and is to be returned with a full fuel tank.

- Once-off Standard Contract Fee = R40
- Once-off Additional Driver Fee = R171 per driver
- Once-off Cross Border Fee = R1250
